王通的《续诗》与《诗经》

自孔子删《诗》之后,后儒就为之传注之学,不敢越雷池一步。惟隋末大儒王通能承圣人之业,为之《续诗》。王通认为《诗经》显示了世道兴衰之由,亦可用以修身养性;他作《续诗》的目的一是为了明王道,亦要振兴萎靡的儒学,二是要以诗歌的发展变化展示时代的变迁。同时王通对诗又有其美学认识。
