The New-coined Spiritual Meaning Implied in a Classic Story A close reading of the narrative poem Can Ma by Feng Zhi

The present paper takes, as the setting, the situation that the traditional value and belief system were shattering in contemporary China and ＂new stories＂ were created by the contemporary writers. It describes the writing techniques employed in the writing of ＂ new stories＂ by Feng Zhi and the hidden structures in the works through the retrevance and detailed analyses of the narrative poem Can Ma. Feng tries to return to the clas- sic works to look for ＂shaonu＂ to support his self-consolation. However, his efforts were only made in a way to express his own views only.
