A Study of the Books Reported to be Confiscated and Destroyed from Various Provinces in Qing Dynasty:The First Reading Notes on "Siku Banning Books"

This paper is finished based on "Files of Si Ku Quan Shu Compiling",making a reference to "Qing banning books of provinces"of Lei Mengchen,and the time is from November 30,the 39th year of Qianlong,to October 19,the 58th year of Qianlong,and 18 provinces in the mainland are all embodied.The total number of the books confiscated by the local governments was approximately 139,803.From 39th year to 44th year of Qianlong,the amount of books confiscated didn’t increase constantly;in the 44th year of Qianlong period,the activities of handing over the books for destruction reached a climax,and the number of handing over books declined continuously since then.It accorded with the process of compiling "Si Ku Quan Shu".
