A SWOT Analysis of the Skiing Tourism Industry in the Shenyang Economic Zone

Incorporating the skiing tourism industry with regional characteristics into the industrial development of the Shenyang economic zone is immediately significant for the industrial revitalization and development of the Shenyang economic zone. The SWOT analysis shows that the skiing tourism industry of the Shenyang economic zone possesses advantages in the aspects of geography, economy, talented people, resources and market. It, on the other hand, is confronted with disadvantages, such as the relatively small industrial scale, less consumer population, imperfection of system and relatively high consumption standard. Also, it is faced with such threats as the industrial competition from both home and abroad, insufficient propaganda, people＇s poor sense of marketing, accumulating skiing parks and intensifying intra industry competition. The skiing industry of the Shenyang economic zone, however, is embracing development opportunities, such as the sustainable regional economic development, increasing improvement of people＇s life, opportunities the revitalization of the northeast old industrial base is bringing to the skiing tourism industry, and opportunities people＇s changing mentality of consumption is bringing to the industry. Therefore, the oppo~unity of the 12th National Games should be seized to develop the sports industry vigorously and optimize the whole skiing tourism industry, develop ecological skiing and ecological tourism to attract consumers, and open up the international market by constructing large-scale skiing resorts.
