| Abstract: | The dominant thought of higher education at the time of Republic of China was that of generalist education. The idea of the generalist education was formulated in the process of its conflict with the specialist education thought. The formulation process was mainly reflected in the setting up of the then higher education policies and in the debate on the higher education thought. |
