英汉职业委婉语探源

在当今高度文明的的社会,职业委婉语是人们在日常交际中常用的表达方式。英汉两种语言都使用职业委婉语,但其产生渊源不同。对英汉两种语言中关于职业委婉语的产生渊源从避免职业歧视、顺应人的心理、遵循礼貌原则、社会文明、避免产生不快的需要五方面进行对比分析,有利于进一步证实人们在交际中使用相应的职业委婉语的必要性。

The Sources of Occupational Euphemisms in English and Chinese Languages

In the highly civilized society nowadays, occupational euphemism is a kind of frequently-used expression in people＇s daily communication. There exists occupational euphemism both in English and Chinese. But there are different sources of occupational euphemism in the two kinds of languages. The contrastive analysis on the sources of occupational euphemism in Chinese and English is very helpful to demonstrate the necessity of using occupational euphemism in communication. The analysis focuses on five aspects： to avoid occupational discrimination; to conform to people＇s psychology; to comply with politeness principle; to adapt to social civilization; to avoid unhappiness.
