| Abstract: | Danyang is located at the meeting place of the Jiang-Huai Mandarin and Wu Dialects.Its dialects are richly complex.Based on fieldwork that examines over 400 dialects,the present article examines the boundary between Jiang-Huai Mandarin and Wu on the banks of the Yangtze and analyzes the influence of Mandarin and the power of its prestige at different strata. |
