| Abstract: | Herodotus and Thucydides are the representatives of ancient Greece historiography. On the one hand, they identified the historical materials with rational attitude; on the other hand, they tried their best to rationally interpret the historical affair. The rational approach which embodied in these two aspects, laid a foundation for the rational tradition in the cognition of western historiography. |
