略论唐代统治者的畋猎

唐代统治者们的畋猎，有帝王的狩猎与地方官员的游猎。帝王的狩猎有多种功效和目的，显示实力，宣扬君威，争取归附是其重要的政治目的，另外也有猎取牺牲供奉宗庙的需要，还可为打击兽害做些示范。地方官员的游猎也有在地方上显示权威和能力的功效，保护当地农牧生产免受兽害侵扰，维持上贡珍稀物品需要都是其重要目的。故对唐代统治者们的狩猎活动，不可一概贬为骄奢享乐之举，应该一分为二地评价其功过得失。

The local governors＇ hunting also had several functions and purposes： showing the authority and ability to the local people, protecting the agricultural and livestock breeding from harmful animals, ensuring to provide enough rare animals to the emperor. So merits and demerits of the rulers＇ hunting in Tang Dynasty should be analyzed seperately, not just being regarded as luxury-loving and enjoyment.
