| 摘 要： | 1936年4月18日,陈寅恪读完沈兼士寄来的论文<"鬼"字原始意义之试探>,复函赞道:"依照今日训诂学之标准,凡解释一字即是作一部文化史.中国近日著作能适合此定义者,以寅恪所见,惟公此文足以当之无愧也."此说今人多认为悬的过高,其实清以前历代文献总共不过2万余种,下死功夫,读完并非难事.
