论孝与仁

孝和仁是儒家两个核心的德目.孝是德的根本,是教化的开端,孝以“能养”前提,其本质内涵则是爱和敬.儒家的孝道思想,还包涵着一种通过“慎终追远”以追寻人的生命本原的形上学意义.仁是全德之名,是德的总称,是一个关于为人之本和理想人格的概念.行仁,是人最本己的可能性,是人之为人的本质所在.忠恕为行仁之方,忠恕工夫所成就的,是人我、外内一体相通的境界.孝与仁两个概念有着内在的关联性：一方面,孝悌为仁之本;同时,孝悌亦必经由忠恕的途径推扩而至于“仁”,才能实现其所本有的道德价值.儒家在强调孝为德之本的同时,在现实层面上又特别注重内外公私领域的区分,这两方面的结合,对中国当代价值体系的重建,具有重要的意义.

On Filial Piety and Benevolence

Filial piety and benevolence are two core virtues of Confucian. Filial piety is the fundament of virtue, and the beginning of enlightenment. Filial piety treat ＂support＂ as a precondition, and its essential connotation is love and respect. Confucian filial piety also bear the kind of metaphysical significance through the ＂ancestor worship＂ in pursuit of primitive human life. Benevolence is the name of whole virtue, and a general term of virtue, is a concept of the ideal of the human personality. Implementation of benevolence is the most likelihood of people, is the essence of being human. Forbearance is a method of implementing benevolence, forbearance work accomplished is the man to me, outside the realm of one interlinked. The concept of filial piety and benevolence have intrinsically relevance： on one hand, the filial piety is the fundament of benevolence; on the other hand, filial piety must go through the expansion of forbearance as for ＂benevolence＂, and achieve its moral value. While Confucianism emphasizes filial piety is the fundament of virtue, at the practical level, with special emphasis on the distinction between public and private sector both inside and outside, combined of these two aspects is of great significance to the reconstruction of Chinese contemporary value system.
