| Abstract: | Samuel Coleridge's long poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is both romantic and highly realistic. It displays the basic Christian creed of original sin through a lengedary story of an ancient mariner kills an albatross and brings disaster to the whole ship. It shows how the arbitrary God compels human beings to obey him, confines their thoughts and makes them live in fear. It is also a representation of the solitude and suffering of real life. |
