摘    要:学衡派对五四新文化运动的批评是一场"迟到的批评",学衡派的批判矛头主要指向胡适,然而论战中胡适始终缺乏积极回应,而学衡派面对五四新文化派的反击也同样不予正面应对,于是造成批评时共同"在场"却又批评对象"缺席"的错位现象。学衡派有自己的文化重构理想,他们主张兼取中西文明之精华而加以熔铸贯通的文化整合观念。

Abstract:The Xueheng School's criticism on the May Fifth New Cultural Movement was a belated one. Hushi was all along quite inactive in answering back, though the Xueheng School targeted its criticism at him. Meanwhile, the Xueheng School did not confront the counterattack of the School supporting May Fifth New Cultural Movement either. Therefore, dislocation appeared as both sides were present during the criticism yet the objects of criticism were absent. The Xueheng School actually had its own ideal of reconstructing culture, one of integration which emphasized the collection and merging of the essence of both the Chinese and the western cultures.
