城市广场是现代城市空间环境中最具公共性、最富艺术魅力、也是最能反映现代都市文明和气氛的开放空间，它体现了城市的生活模式和社会文化内涵，是城市风貌的集中体现。大连星海广场是大连最有代表性的城市广场，作者通过采用问卷访谈和观察相结合的形式对其进行实地考察研究，对星海广场的使用现状进行评价，对广场独特的设计风格和手法给予肯定，同时发现使用设施不到位等不足。通过分析星海广场规划设计的得与失为同类广场设计提出讲求因地制宜、体现地域特色、设施体现人性化等启示。

A Restudy of the Artistic Space of the Xinghai Square of Dalian City

A city square, an open space that has the most publicity and charm of art, can reflect the extent of civilization and atmosphere of a modern city. It is also thought to be able to represent the way of urban life and the intension of social culture. The Xinghai Square is one of the most typical urban squares in Dalian City. The current in-use situation of the Xinghai Square is assessed according to the information from the Xinghai-Square-related investigation, questionnaire, observation and research. The unique square-designing style and method are approved and some flaws such as inconvenience of facilities are pointed out. Both the advantages and disadvantages of the Xinghai Square give some enlightenments to the future square designing. For example, measures should be taken to suit local conditions; local features should be fully embodied in the square designing,; and facilities should be humanized.
