The Irony toward the Nihilism

With the popularity of Rorty＇ s philosophy, the concept of irony is becoming a more and more popular one, however, there is a special hackground on nihilism in Rorty＇ s concept of irony, it is inconceivable to understand the concept of irony unless we can grasp the relation between the concept of irony and the one of nihilism. Attempting to grasp the irony based on the conditions of the nihilism of modern age, we can find that the irony, on one hand, is the form of escaping from metaphysics, on the other hand, it is also an awkward emotion facing a contingent world thoroughly, and it is not only the acceptance to the failure of modernity, but also the protest against it.
