摘    要:我国传统的英语语音教学基本上都局限于单一的RP体系 ,忽视了语音变异及其功能。本文从社会语言学的视角 ,就区域变体、社会变异及语体变异三方面探讨语音变异及其功能 ,并简要说明对英语教学的启示 :从大纲制定者、教材编写者到广大教师都要提高语音变异意识。

Abstract:In the traditional approach of teaching English phonetics in China, which is often restricted in the single RP model, the variants of pronunciation and their functions are ignored. This paper, from the perspective of socio-linguistics, attempts to reveal the existing pronunciation variants and their functions in terms of regional varieties, social variants and stylistic variants. The author suggests that the awareness of the variants be raised among syllabus makers, textbook compilers and teachers.
