| Abstract: | The past several years have seen the continuous falling of Hubei's rank in GDP per capita in the whole country, from the 12th in 1999 to the 13th in 2000 and the 14th in 2002. How wide is the gap between Hubei, a big province in central China, and coastal provinces? Is the gap still widening? What should Hubei do to reinvigorate its economy? These are questions discussed in the paper. |
