歧义是一种语言形式表达两种或两种以上意义的语言现象。对它的作用 ,语言学界大多认为是消极否定的 ,认为它影响交际的顺利、快捷进行。虽然如此 ,歧义也有其积极的一面。恰当运用歧义不仅不会影响交际 ,而且会给交际带来积极作用

On the Pragmatic Value of Ambiguity

Ambiguity is a phenomenon in which one linguistic expression denotes two or more ideas. As for its value, there has been quite negative opinions in the liguistic circles with the consideration that it interferes with the rapid, smooth process of communication. Nevertheless, it also has a positive aspect. Once it is properly used it will bring positive factors instead of negative interference to effective communication.
