翻译与时间

本文从中西方跨文化交流的视角 ,在对翻译与时间的动态关系进行考察的基础上提出了共时翻译和延时翻译理念 ,并根据这对理念探讨了中西方跨文化交流的演进过程、翻译指导思想、文化冲突和文化误读方面的问题。文章指出由于文化误读 ,中国和西方的许多重要作品都是经由延时翻译输入对方文化的。延时翻译不仅在原著和译作之间产生较大的时间差 ,还给译入语文化带来时代错觉 ,使译作在目标语文化里的接受、影响和审美等方面都受到较大影响。

Translation and Time

From a panorama of intercultural communications between China and the West,the present paper puts forth the concepts of synchronous translation and delayed translation based on investigations of dynamic relations between time and translation. With a view of these concepts, the process of cultural exchanges between China and the West, their respective guiding principles of translation, cultural conflicts and cultural misreading are brought under examination. The paper argues that due to cultural misreading, many an important work in the West and China has been translated on the basis of delayed approach, which not only causes a huge time dislocation between the original and the translated but brings anachronisms into the target culture, exerting a great impact on the translated texts in terms of their acceptance, influence and aesthetics in the target culture. As the corollary of the discussion, a few existing ideas on translation are challenged.
