社会平等断想

社会平等可分为机会平等与结果平等。机会平等不仅是社会进步的标志,更是人类社会追求的目标,真正的机会平等则是社会主义的本质要求。追求结果平等,既不符合人性,也不符合历史事实,注定是一种幻想。在一定意义上,结果不平等是人类社会不可避免的现象,且对社会发展具有无可否认的积极作用。因此,社会改革的价值取向应该是机会平等与公正。

On Social Equality

Social equality can be divided into equality of chance and equality of result. Equality of chance is not only a symbol of social progress but also what the human society is after and is the basic requirement of socialism in its true sense. Any effort to seek after equality of result runs counter to both human nature and historical facts, hence only an illusion. In a sense, inequality of result is an inevitable phenomenon of the human society and is of undeniable positive help to social development. Therefore, the orientation of value in social reform ought to be equality and impartiality of chance.
