An Analysis of the Formation and Development of ASEAN Regional Security

ASEAN regional security regime underwent a process of formation and development. In 1967, the formation of ASEAN laid an organizational foundation for ASEAN regional security regime. The Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia signed in 1976 marked the formation of ASEAN regional security regime. Thereafter, ASEAN regional security regime has developed constandy. Why was ASEAN regional security regime formed and maintained？ How did it develop and change？ This paper makes a brief review and analysis on this process from function theory of international regime point of view.
