Exploration & Analysis of Hu Shi's Methodology in the Perspective of "Method of Ancestor and Offspring"--An Example of Pursuing Modernity in light of Methodological Aspect

By means of positivism, Hu Shi combined the western pragmatism, the textual analysis of late Qing scholars and the Chinese traditional skepticism to formulate his own scientific method the gem of which is "bold hypothesis testified carefully with details". Hu Shi's method not only pointed for Chinese academics to a new direction that stresses methodology, but also helped with the modern transformation of Chinese ideology and culture. However, its too much stress on hypothesis made it prone to subjectivism and skepticism.
