The Displaying of Women's Self-awareness and the Highlighting of Its Cultural Connotation--On the narrating skills of Han Suyin's Evergreen Mountain

In a quotidian mode of narration,Evergreen Mountain,one of the masterpieces of overseas Chinese,while narrating a love story,displays intense self-awareness of women and rich cultural connotation.The former is embodied in three ways: the characterization of a new image of women of idealism;the bold expression of women's mental activities as for love and their sex consciousness;the betrayal against traditional ideas and the advocating of women's self-awareness.As to the cultural connotation,the author depicts Nepal's custom and society in an appreciative tone almost to the degree of worship so that the text features the persistence and solemnness in experiencing the culture rather than the rubbernecks' frivolousness.
