| Abstract: | The language phenomenon of polysemy cannot be completely explained by the traditional semantic theory. With cognitive theory as the framework, this article analyses the prototype, family resemblance, image schema , metaphor, metonymy and their relations, suggesting that polysemy is the result of human cognition, and human language has certain motivation. |
