浅析《老人与海》中"狮子"意象的两种意义

读者对作品意义的解读在很大程度上取决于读者的“文学能力”(literarycompetence)。不同“文学能力”的读者会从不同的阅读视点来理解作品 ,从而会使作品中的同一意象产生不同的意义。而这些不同的意象意义同样可以用来解读文本的整体意义。海明威的名著《老人与海》中狮子意象具有点题作用 ,对该意象的解读有助于加深对文本的理解。本文试从两个阅读视点分析狮子意象所负载的两种不同的象征意义 ,以求解析《老人与海》的主题意义

Two Interpretations of "the Lion" in The Old Man and the Sea

Understanding of literary works, to a great extent, depends on its readers' literary competence. Readers with different literary competence interpret a literary work from different points of view, and thus come up with very different interpretation of the same image. In The Old Man and the Sea , "the lion" brings out the theme. The interpreting of the image can help enhance one's understanding of the work. This paper analyzes from two perspectives the image of the "lion" in interpreting the theme of the work.
