| Abstract: | Metaphor is an important cognitive tool for interpreting abstract conceptions.Using metaphors to express thoughts is a common pragmatic phenomenon.Studies on cognition and functions of metaphor are the contemporary linguistic focuses.This paper aims to put metaphor in the grammar,discourse and cognitive perspective to investigate its functions. |
