"美国研究"或"对美国的研究"--试析中外美国研究范畴的不对称性

美国的强大使美国研究在全球成为社会科学研究的热点.然而,中外美国研究在内容范畴上却存在着巨大差别.美国研究在本土的兴起是其民族身份诉求的象征,是内向的,采取的是文化的研究途径;而对中国或其他国家而言,美国研究是对一强大的他国的研究,因此较易倾向于政治、国际关系等方面.各国美国研究协会成立的先后也因此与美国的外交拓展基本一致.通过对加拿大与中国的美国研究的案例分析,认为除了语言与经济条件的限制外,本土主义与国家利益的结合是美国研究各国发展差异的原因所在.中国的美国研究更多的是一种对美国这一国家实体的研究,这种研究从长远而言需以美国研究为基础.

American Studies or Study of America--Analyzing Asymmetry in American Studies of Different Countries

American studies are popular social science topics in the world now since the US is a global super power. However, the contents of the American studies in China and abroad have many differences. The emergence of American studies in the US symbolized its appeals for national identity. It's inward, adopting a research method of cultural studies, while in China and other countries, American studies is the study of a super power.So they always focus on politics, international relations and so on. The establishment of American studies societies in every country is therefore consistent with the development of international relations with America. Through the case studies of American studies in China and Canada, this article argues that except for the restrictions from language and economic conditions, the reason of the differences in American studies in different countries is the combination of nativism and national interests. American studies in China is more about the research of America as a country. In the long run, this research needs to be based on the research of American culture.
