Analysis of the Succession of Lan Family in Jimo from Huayang Academy

The Lan family played a vital part in Jimo’s cultural history of feudal region during the Qing and Ming dynasties.The Huayang Academy,established by Lan Zhang,lasted for 400 years up to the 12th generation,playing an essential role in spreading knowledge and ethics,bringing up outstanding figures,and making the Lan family well known.The Lan family,famous for honesty,fearlessness and justice,always cultivated minds and manners to keep the tradition of the Huayang Academy.Furthermore,they kept studying,setting up new theories and creating poems and essays,so that the succession of the Lan family in Jimo is considered as an excellent view to research the familial culture in Qingdao.
