Fan Cheng-da(1126-1193),suffered the loss of his parents in succession when he was seventeen or eighteen years old.All of a sudden he became an orphan,though he used to be a son of an official and indulged himself in unconstrained enjoyments.After his parents' death,he returned to his hometown,where he stayed for more than ten years.He became an elite with a double-character of traditional scholars in his time.His life experience, social intercourses and tours exerted great impact on the changes of his thoughts and behavior,especially on shaping his thoughts and feelings as a recluse.
