| Abstract: | This article discusses the reasons for the rise of Tao and Taoism in China's cultural,political,academic and civil societies,stressing on those unique religious characteristics of Taoism that distinguish it from other ordinary religions and pointing out that Taoism has played in China's historical process a special role that other religions are too far to catch up with. |
