| Abstract: | The author has visited several cities, such as Kunming, Shanghai and Hangzhou for consulting materials and historical literature, and interviewed Dong Guanzhi's offspring. Finally, it has been proved that Dong is the earliest western painter in Yunnnan's fine art history. Some misunderstandings in Yunnnan's fine art history for a long term have been revised. This essay has restated all the life and story of Mr. Dong Guanzhi, a famous painter who is very important and unknown in Yunnnan's fine art history and filled the blanks of Yunnnan's contemporary art history and art education history. |
