论科学在精神文明中的地位和作用

长期以来,不少人对精神文明的内涵及其形成的途径理解肤浅,对科学的本质及其社会功能认识片面。科学作用于人们的精神生活大体有两种途径:一是科学通过技术与生产相结合而发展生产、变革社会,从而转变人们的思想观念和精神状态;二是科学作为一种思想和观念,直接介入人们的精神生活,净化和升华人们的精神世界。因此,全方位普及科学,以科学知识、科学方法、科学思想、科学精神来塑造和提高我们的民族素质,是我国当今精神文明建设的一项基础性工程。

On the Status and Function of Science in Spiritual Civilization

The reason for the ignorance of the status and function of science in spiritual civilization lies in people's superficial understanding of its connotation and formation means and the lopsided recognition of its nature and social function. It is proved by the practice that the construction of spiritual civilization without attaching enough importance to science is imperfect, and even illusionary. There are two means by which science has an impact on people's cultural life: one is the combination of science and production by technology so as to develop production and reform society and then further transform people's mentality, and the other is the penetration of science, as one kind of thought and notion, into people's mind to purify and sublimate their mental world. Therefore, one basic task for the construction of spiritual civilization is to popularize science and improve the national qualities by scientific knowledge, scientific means, views of scientific and science spirit.
