Dilemma of Literary Theory and Criticism in the Present Consumption Era

With the development of various patterns of the presentation of literature in the present era of consumption, different kinds of literary theories and criticisms emerge as the era calls for, especially the arguments concerning the existence and disappearance of literature. The article first makes a general survey of the three reasons for the theory on the disappearance of literature, then analyzes the present situation of literary theories and criticisms, and finally concludes that the inner richness and great power of literature can be better understood through rationally and completely accepting the intrinsic factors of literature.
