On the Macro-Governing Role Played by the British University Council

This paper introduces and analyses the British patterns of university councils and their historical background,the characteristics of council members,the members' perceptions of three issues concerning with university policies,and the members' macro-administration activities.The author argues that some of what the paper talks about,such as the experience that local government and social circles participate in the university administration,the attitude that the university councils take toward teaching and research,fund collection,and enrollment are valuable to be used for reference in Chinese universities.
