中西悲剧在悲剧冲突选择上的差异

On the Differences in Choosing Tragedy Conflicts Between Chinese and Western Tragedies

The main differences between Chinese and western tragedies lie in choosing tragic characters and conflicts. The tragedy conflicts of Chinese tragedies are mainly manifested in the process of external just powers defeating evil forces while those of western tragedies are mainly expressed in internal kind human nature overcoming internal evil human nature. The solutions to these conflicts are, however, rather identical--the pursuit of the unity of historical and moral progress. Because the tragic characters in Chinese tragedies are perfect, Chinese tragedies realize the unity by negating and rejecting evil forces while those in western tragedies are defective, western tragedies realize the unity by negating people's own defects and guilts.
