本文试图探讨叙事策略与认识的困境及探索之间的内在关系。本文认为，《米德尔马契》在全知叙事模式的基础上，运用叙述声音的融合及叙事眼光的转换等手法，突出了全知叙事者的局限和不同叙事话语的对话功能，而多重话语与眼光结构的共存及相互作用，一方面动摇了传统现实主义小说的作者权威和话语等级，揭示了主体认识的透视性和不完整性，另一方面又为认识现实的多样性提供了可能，从而成为保存主体认识连贯性的新尝试。
