Facing Global Financial Meltdown: India's Countermeasures

The Indian economy remains the second- fastest growing economy in the world. So far the macroeconomic impact of the global financial turmoil has been relatively muted due to the overall strength of domestic demand. India was not experiencing a recession as other advanced economies and its economy would not be affected to the same extent as some other emerging Asian economies. The challenge now is to get the right policy mix so as to ensure that the economy is able to minimize the dislocation to its growth trend.
