摘    要:荀子对人性的关注,源于其设立的天人分途。他设定在人身上"性""伪"二分对立,同时又主张二者相合,这二重关系构成荀子性恶论的核心。由性伪分,突出人的原初之性朴,由性伪合强调人归于礼义之善。性伪之分合,关键在于心的作用。因此,对荀子人性论的理解,不能仅追问"性"字的含义,而尤要在性伪二者的动态关系中去理解。所以,荀子的性恶是针对于礼义之善的恶,而并非本性恶。

Abstract:Xun Zi concerns about the human nature stems from his separation of nature and man.The duality of nature and artificiality in man and the combination of the two at the same time constitute the core of Xunzi's theory of man's inborn naure.The separation of nature and artificiality in man highlights man's original nature;the combination of man's nature and artificiality emphasizes man's adaptation to the external ceremony and rites.Man's mind is key to the separation or combination of nature and artificiality.Therefore,our understanding of Xunzi's theory of man's nature should focus on the dynamic relationship between man's nature and artificiality instead of the literal meaning of the word "natrure".So,in Xunzi's theory,the evil of man's inborn nature is not really evil,but is used in opposition to the kindness and goodness of ettiquette and rites.
