The Significance of Wang Shizhen's Poetic Criticism: An Examination based on his Re-ranking of Yuequanyin School Poetry

Yuequanyin School is the largest and most fruitful one of the poetic schools associated by the loyalties of Southern Song Dynasty. Re-ranking of the poems collected by the School is Wang Shizhen＇s most important poetic criticism practices. However, as Wang made no explanation of his reason for those,such activities led to much suspicions. In fact, such endeavors of Wang Shizhen are due to the influences oh his family, the poetic theory of Shenyun, and due to his agreement with Yuequanyin School＇s idea in ＂innovation＂. The re-ranking suggests Wang Shizhen＇s strong awareness of leadership and innovation as well as his principles of poem judgment. It is significant in Chinese poetic history.
