Stop Seeking a Definite Criterion for Translation

Translation criterion has long been the target of all disputes in the field of translation. The past few decades witnessed a noisy world dense with new terms intended as translation criterion. This paper argues that such endless new-term-centric disputes will lead nowhere and all attempts to fix a criterion for translation will end up a waste of time, because translation involves a lot more factors than we can set a definite criterion by.
