四川高校具有科技人才密集，学科门类齐全，研究实力雄厚的优势。在“八五”期间，高校科技工作主动适应社会主义市场经济发展的需要，深化改革，不断发展，已成为发展四川科技一重要方面军。目前高校科技工作面临着机遇与挑战并存，希望与困难同在的局面。今后五至十年是我国社会主义现代化建设的关键时期，也是高校科技工作改革与发展的关键时间。因此，高校科技工作必须在竞争中改革、创新、发展。按照科技（作的大改方针和战略部暑，结合高校的特点与实际，充分发挥高校教育、科技的优势，积极实施科教兴国、科技兴川战略，为我国、我省经济发展和社会进步作出更大贡献。
