The Era of Simulation: the Postmodern Perspective in the Media Theory of Bardrillard

As one of the most important theorists in postmodern theory,Jean Bardrillard puts forward some postmodern concepts such as simulation,implosion and hyperreal,which are used to describe the postmodern nature of society governed by media and technology.Media are interpreted as important simulation machines prevalent in daily life,which also play a role in the model for social control in contemporary capitalistic society.In a hyperreal world,the mass had been reduced to "the silent majorities",which eventually led to "an end to society".Media theory of Bardrillard provides great insights for the reflection on media criticism from a postmodern perspective and understanding of the media as a tool of ideology.
