世界城市理论与上海的世界城市发展进程

世界城市的概念主要由英国社会学家弗里德曼提出.关注都市化进程中通常属于国家范围内的政治、政策之外的力量,是世界城市理论提出的直接背景和这一理论本身着重思考和探索的核心问题.世界城市假说本身主要是一个研究框架,不是一个有关城市的理论或总体的叙述,而仅仅是一个研究的起点.世界城市假说第一个局限性是过于集中在一些相对较大的都市中心,第二个局限性是疏于发展城市理论本身.在都市化进程中,上海的经济和城市硬件走在了国内前列,甚至可与一些世界顶级城市相媲美.上海与西方大都市的最大差距不在GDP、城市空间与人口规模,而主要是落后在城市的文化软实力上,因而无论是在未来的全球城市竞争中,还是在城市自身的可持续发展上,上海最关键的问题是如何改变文化上的落后现实.
