On the Theory That Engraving Typography Was Invented in the Han Dynasty

The core of inventing engraving typography, a great technological invention, is the invention of its theory. Chinese invented engraving typography in the Han dynasty at the end of 2nd century BC. Two pieces of printed & dyed textiles unearthed in Mawangdui Han Mausoleum of Changsha, have already proved the basic scientific & technological theory of engraving typography. The application of such specific techniques as engraving, overprint, dying, engraving & overprint & dying, hollowed dying, and pressing & printing textiles from both sides, has involved, even surpassed all sorts of primary technology in the field of book-publishing of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The theory of engraving typography played a brilliant role in the culture of textiles and paper printing.
