On Walter LaFeber's Studies on the History of American-Latin American Relations

Walter LaFeber′s studies on history of American-Latin American relations,which including the evolution of the Monroe Doctrine,American-Panama relations,and American-Central America relations,radically overthrow the traditional praising standpoint of the Latin American policy of the United States with Samuel Flag Bemis as the most powerful exponent.LaFeber′s studies reveals that America′s Latin American policy has always been self-interested imperialism,which in history never been basically changed.Latin America didn＇t benefit from America′s policy,on the contrary suffered from economic stagnancy,social polarization,and political non-democracy,even intensify of nationalism and frequently revolution.LaFeber appealed U.S.government to adjust its Latin American policy.
