The Significance of Pingshan Temple for Yangzhou

Up to the end of Tang dynasty,Yangzhou had impressed people as a prosperous,entertaining and depraved city.Later in Song dynasty,Ouyang Xiu built Pingshan Temple in Yangzhou,which,in terms of the functional effect,brought to Yangzhou the life style of ancient Chinese literati and promoted the cultural taste of this city.Two pieces of Ci about Pingshan Temple by Ouyang Xiu and Su Shi are the best footnote for the understanding of life designated by Pingshan Temple.The cultural heritage of this kind is of valuable referential significance for modern construction of urban culture.
