对新加坡华文文学历史轨迹的思考

新加坡华文文学经历了复杂多变的过程，在彷徨以至迷惘中，作了种种探索与抉择。它是一个不断强化本土意识，弱化中国意识，从依附到独立，由“中国文学的分支”脱胎为新加坡国家文学的重要组成部分的演化过程。南洋文艺──马来亚文艺──马华文艺独特性，标志着新华文学历史进程中自主、独立、创新意识的不断增长。

Thoughts on the historical trail of Singaporean literary works in Chinese language

Singaporean literary works in Chinese language has gone through a complex and changeful course. Efforts have been made to explore the alternatives and determine a choice from among them after much hesitation in bewildering confusion. The evolutionary course is one of strengthening the independent consciousness of writing on local themes instead of dependence upon source materials from China, and one of breaking away from the status of being a branch of Chinese literature to become an important constituent of the national literature of Singapore. The uniqueness seen in the historical course from South Sea Islands literature through Malay literature to Malaysian literature marks the ever-increasing consciousness of independence and creativeness in the development of Singaporean literature in Chinese language as well as reflecting a historical necessity.
