Wang Dulu's novel Crouching Tiger,Hidden Dragon is characterized by the psychological tragedy.The personality of the heroine Yu Jiaolong is demonstrated in the situation of facing various attacks from all sides involving the conflicts of the "good" and the "evil".This image is deep in her inner conflicts that the author successfully revealed in the novel.In this sense,the greatest enemy is the heroine herself.The exhibition of Yu Jiaolong's tragedy and her inherent,life-long loneliness owed much to the combination of Wang Dulu's aesthetic pursuit and psychoanalytic esthetics.A brief critique on the homonymous film and an extract from the original novel are also given in the paper.
