| 摘 要： | 文章概述了墨子刻先生的思想历程和研究成果 ,介绍了墨先生的治学方法。指出《摆脱困境》一书博大精深 ,是美国汉学研究的一个突破 ;墨先生对中国历史的研究与他对中国文化的爱好、尊敬结合为一 ;同时也特别重视对乌托邦精神的批判 ;他肯定近代中国知识界的调适思想 ,而质疑彻底改造的转化思想。

| Abstract: | This paper summaries the achievement and outline of Thomas A. Metzger, introduces his research methodology, analyzes his famous book, getting rid of dilemma, which is a breakthrough on the Chinese culture studied by Americans. Thomas A. Metzger combined his research about Chinese history with his worship to Chinese culture, especially emphasized on the criticizing the Utopia spirits, confirmed the adjustment of modern Chinese academy, doubted its thoroughly transformation. |
