五四文学革命一个很重要的方面就是以白话文取代文言文的语言形式上的革命 ,但白话文不能作为新旧文学的分水岭 ,通俗易懂更不能作为新旧文学的分界线。五四语言革命的主旨是民主与科学精神的体现 ,而绝非仅仅是因为白话文比文言文更通俗易懂。五四文学革命由于肩负着沉重的救亡图存的使命 ,所以在走向通俗化的过程中并没有很多审美上的考虑 ,科学化的语言追求无疑付出了很大的审美代价

Reconsideration on the Language Revolution in the Period of May Fourth

Replacing the ancient language with bahua is a very important aspect of the May Fourth literature revolution. But bahua can't be used as the watershed of the new and old literature, popularity can't be the boundary of the new and old literature also. The aim of the language revolution in May Fourth period is to show the spirit of democracy and science, not to make the language more popular. The revolution of May Fourth literature has the mission to save the country, therefore in the process to popularity and the process of pursuing scientific language the literature doesn't have many aesthetic considerations.
